Buffing Kit $8.68
Buffing Kit
Quantity:

Modern Plastics Buffing Kit - For buffing edges of acrylic plastic. Kit contains 4" diameter cloth wheel and a 2 oz stick of red buffing compound. You use the arbor adapter sold separately for holding the buffing wheel.

Buffing edges of acrylic plastic sheet give it a professional smooth look!

Instructions: Before you begin, always wear safety glasses or goggles. Use in a well-ventilated area. Beware of loose-fitting clothing or long hair.

Prepare the edges for buffing by removing saw cuts with edge scraper or sand edges with sandpaper. Clamp piece to be buffed firmly in place. With buffing wheel attached to arbor adapter attach buffing wheel to a hand held drill. Start drill spinning and pass buffing compound across edge of wheel until coated. Lightly run wheel across edge of work.

You may use buffing wheel with a stationary motor. With this method, apply compound to the buffing wheel while it rotates. Hold work firmly and touch it lighly agains the edge of the spinning wheel. Caution should be used since excess pressure or corner can cause wheel to catch your work and pull it out of your hands.

With either the hand held drill or stationary motor method, you should always apply compound to the buffing wheel, not the work piece you are buffing. Keep the buffing wheel moving across the work piece to prevent overheating of the acrylic sheet.

To remove old dry compound from the buffing wheel- hold the edge of a file or hacksaw blade against the wheel as it turns.
