Not All Acetal is Created Equal

DELRIN® Homopolymer Acetal Manufactured by Ensinger Inc. versus Generic Acetal

For years you may have been told that there is very little difference in the physical properties or performance between Delrin homopolymer acetal and other generic copolymer acetal brands. You may have even been told that in some cases, acetal copolymer provides superior performance.

Ensinger Inc. is the largest and most experienced extruder of Delrin homopolymer acetal in the world. Our years of experience have allowed us to perfect our process conditions to the point that Ensinger's Delrin exhibits greatly enhanced physical properties, better dimensional stability, machinability, and quality when compared to other commonly extruded acetals. Unique process and die technologies developed by Wilfred Ensinger himself deliver clean, low stress shapes that are critical in producing high quality machined parts. Our process controls and quality systems ensure that every Delrin shape we manufacture is consistent in properties and performance. The very fact that there is only one manufacturer of Delrin Homopolymer resin, DuPont, contributes to the consistency of our product. Other extruders could and do typically provide acetal shapes using resin from as many as 2 or 3 different resin manufacturers all of which have different run and process parameters. This leads to shapes that will all react differently when machined, potentially costing users set up time, scrap and money.

In addition to superior process capabilities, Ensinger also bases all its test data on our own extruded shapes, and every shape is fully traceable. All Ensinger's extrusion facilities are ISO 9001:2000 certified and all our materials are line marked and lot controlled. We can provide detailed records of lot, batch and manufacture dates on everything we manufacture, and will certify to the customer's strictest requirements.

Delrin® AF

Delrin® AF, offered in both rod and sheet forms by Modern Plastics, is a unique thermoplastic material suitable for use in environments in which low friction and long wear are important. Delrin® AF blend is a combination of Teflon fibers uniformly dispersed in Delrin® acetal resin. This combination produces a material that has strength, toughness, dimensional stability and good machinability, plus improved wear characteristics over unfilled Delrin®.

Delrin® Acetal Homopolymer

Delrin® 150E

As an Elite Distributor for ENSINGER-HYDE, Modern Plastics offers Delrin® 150E. Delrin® 150E -as manufactured by Ensinger is a standard all-purpose grade of homopolymer acetal sheet. Delrin® 150E is an easy machining plastic with good strength, wear resistance, chemical resistance, and low moisture absorption. Delrin® products in general offer slightly higher mechanical properties then "copolymer" acetal products such as Acetron® GP, but may contain a lower density center, especially in large cross sections. Natural grade Delrin® 150E is FDA, USDA, and NSF compliant.
