Tecamid®, Tecamid MDS®, Tecamid® ST

Modern Plastics offersTecamid® , nylons including Tecamid®, Tecamid® ST, and Tecamid MDS®. Nylon was the first engineering resin. It has been used in applications ranging from electronic, marine, and automotive industries to fibers used to make carpet.

Nylon has outstanding wear resistance and low frictional properties. It has very good temperature, chemical, and impact properties. However, nylon’s one weakness is a propensity to absorb moisture and thus have poor dimensional stability.

TECAMID® has an excellent balance of properties which make it an ideal material for metal replacement in applications such as automotive parts, industrial valves, railway tie insulators, and other industry uses whose design requirements include high strength, toughness, and weight reduction. Tecamid® ST is a type 6/6 nylon that is super tough. Tecamid® ST also has an increased impact resistance and toughness over Tecamid® 6/6. TECAMID MDS® has enhanced properties which make it an ideal material to replace metals in machinery.

Tecaform™

Modern Plastics also carries Tecaform™ acetal copolymer, a semi-crystalline thermoplastic offering high strength, stiffness and toughness. Tecaform™ acetal coplymer is resistant to hot water, hydrocarbons and solvents, and it possesses good bearing and wear properties. It is available in natural and black grades. Tecaform™ acetal copolymer is commonly used as bushings, rollers, wear strips and other applications requiring a combination of strength, low moisture absorption, chemical resistance and dimensional stability.

Tecanat™

Modern Plastics offers Tecanat™ a natural unfilled polycarbonate that has transparency, excellent impact strength and tensile properties. Polycarbonate is an amorphous thermoplastic. Good electrical properties combined with superior impact strength and moderate chemical resistance make this product widely accepted for numerous applications. This product is offered in many popular rod and plate sizes.
