Applying Tecamid

Material: Tecamid VF, Vacuum Formable Nylon

Problem: Standard chutes fabricated from sheet metal and coated with powder exhibited two significant problems for end users. The first was the noise caused by falling glass bottles rejected by the machine. The second was the height in which the bottles would bounce off the chute, sometimes bouncing clear of the collection area. The bouncing was originally solved by creating a wood backing plate to absorb both noise and reduce bounce.

Solution: The new vacuum formed chute design using Tecamid VF solved the noise problem and eliminated the issue of bouncing glass. An overall reduction in cost was achieved by reducing the number of vendors required to produce and assemble the old version chute.

Tecamid VF can offer an affordable and functional advantage over other materials. Tecamid VF, distributed by Modern Plastics, is available in thicknesses from .010 to .062.

Tecason™ P VF / Tecason™ S VF

Tecason P VF Modern Plastics offers Tecason™ P VF, specifically designed for use in the process of thermoforming. Tecason™ P VF has very good creep resistance and has an extremely high impact resistance. It also has excellent resistance to repeated sterilisation and a high frequency resistance. The line of Tecason™ P VF comes in a large range of colors (all RADEL® 5100/5500-colours are possible) that are inherently flame-retardent and physiologically harmless.

Modern Plastics also offers Tecason™ S VF, a translucent thermoformed plastic that is resistant to electromagnetic waves and gamma rays. Tecason S holds good thermal and mechanical properties and is also hydrolysis resistant and maintains good electrical insulation.

Tecamid™ VF

Modern Plastics offers Tecamid™ VF which is outstandingly suited to deep-drawing applications - an all-round engineering plastic now available for the first time to thermoformers. Applications appear in the automotive industry, especially in mechanical engineering and in under the bonnet applications.

Tecamid™ VF has a high strength resulting from glass fiber reinforcement, a high toughness, permanent resistance to temperatures up to 140°C, and resistance to oils, greases, and solvents.

Tecatron® PPS

TECATRON® PPS is a high performance thermoplastic that combines good mechanical properties with excellent thermal and chemical resistance properties. There is no known solvent that dissolves TECATRON® PPS at temperatures below 392°F. Its low ionic impurities make it an excellent choice for applications where high purity is a concern, such as in the automotive, electrical/electronic, industrial, mechanical, appliance, and semiconductor industries.
