From the Industry Experts

Ensinger Special Polymers

Ensinger Special Polymers, the compression molding division of Ensinger Inc. has been in the business of compounding and processing high performance engineering polymers since 1991. These versatile engineering plastics offer elevated temperature and physical properties for use in industries ranging from petrochemical processing to aerospace, and from semiconductors to pharmaceutical. Ensinger Special Polymer's unique compression molding process has resulted in finished goods that exhibit a level of strength and durability that previously, was not believed to be possible. By combining polymers such as PEEK™, PPS, and Polyimide with certain other compounds, the already high performance characteristics of these materials can be improved to include superior resistance to chemicals, wear, flame, intense heat, or cryogenic temperatures.

As a leading processor of high performance plastic shapes and parts, Ensinger Inc. chooses to market its products only through the most qualified plastics distributors. Modern Plastics, headquartered in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is one of the best of this very limited group. Modern Plastics has been an Ensinger "Elite Distributor" since 1998 because of their commitment to excellence, and their unparalleled knowledge and expertise of the Ensinger product line. Modern's trained customer care and technical staff is uniquely positioned to offer their customers fast and accurate information for even the most demanding of technical engineering applications. With unique services like bar coding, and a reputation for timely deliveries straight from their large and diverse inventory of Ensinger materials, Modern is easily able to satisfy the most demanding customer requirements.

Ensinger and Ensinger Special Polymers are fortunate to be associated with a quality distribution company such as Modern Plastics, and recommend without reservation their services to any company who expects the highest level of customer care. Modern Plastics has set the standard for customer service, reliability and technical expertise.

Sincerely,

Bruce Dickinson,
National Sales and Marketing Manager

Conductive Plastics - ESD Materials

TECAPEEK PVX

Modern Plastics carries this range of conductive plastics (ESD materials). In recent years, industry has demanded a range of materials that not only possess strength, wear properties, heat and chemical resistance but materials that are less resistive to the build-up of a static charge. Modern Plastics has a family of such materials; their properties are described below.

Download the ESD Materials fact sheet.

ESD Materials:

  • TECAFORM™ SD - A static dissipative acetal that contains no carbon fibers or powders and is generally accepted for clean room use.
  • HYDEL® PC-7 - A polycarbonate based material with a proprietary carbon filler component.
  • HYDEL® PC-P ESD - A static dissipative thermoplastic product containing carbon powder.
  • HYDEL® PEI-7 - A static dissipative polyetherimide utilizing proprietary filler technology which renders this material electrically conductive.
  • TECAPEEK™ PVX - An ultra high performance bearing material based on the PEEK polymer.
  • SINTIMID™ ESD 23 - Based on a polyamide imide resin with a low sloughing, additive package.

Properties:

  • Excellent weather and gamma radiation resistance
  • Outstanding bearing and wear properties
  • High strength and stiffness
  • Excellent eletrical values
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Maintains a high proportion of mechanical properties over a broad temperature spectrum - cryogenic to 500°F
  • TECATOR™ TI5013 and TI5031 are available in a wide variety of metric sizes in rod and plate

TECATOR™(PAI) typical applications: Pump parts, valve seats, piston rings, seal rings, engine transmission parts and bearing cages. For the semiconductor industry it is used for “burn in” test sockets, nests, chassis and other applications such as welding nozzle tips.
