MediPeek™

MediPeek™

Modern Plastics offers MediPeek™, an excellent choice for medical implant and instruments because of its superior strength and performance characteristics in addition to its clinically proven biocompatibility. The two implant grades of PEEK are produced in accordance with ASTM F-2026 standards. Which one should be used depends on what kind of contact it will have with the body, and for how long. M grade PEEK is for short-term contact whereas I grade is for long-term contact.

MediPEEK™ is used in medical products to improve their usefulness. MediPEEK™ is lighter weight offering more freedom of design and better functional integration. It has high chemical resistance, high mechanical strength and excellent impact properties. It also has good dimensional stability and can be sterilized via steam autoclave, EtO gas or conventional gamma irradiation.

Advantages of MediPeek™

  • Permanent implant grade
  • USP VI for temporary implantation grade
  • Instrument grade
  • Total compliance with ISO 10993 including those specific to USP class VI toxicity standards
  • Bar stock fully annealed
  • Lot controlled and traceable
  • ASTM F2026

Medical UHMWPE

Medical UHMWPE

Modern Plastics offers Westlake Lennite® Medical Grade UHMWPE, an extruded and compressed molded medical grade UHMWPE that is produced in accordance with ASTM F-648 standards for use as an implant grade material and is ISO 5834-1 and ISO 5834-2 compliant for use in international markets.

These compression molded sheets are formed under heat and pressure, and are slowly cooled to produce a very dimensionally stable, virtually stress-free sheet ideal for machining and fabrication. When machining close tolerance parts, a fabricator will experience very little material ovement. This proprietary process provides sheets with inherent stress levels that are extremely low or nonexistent in some cases than those typically found in the same materials that have been extruded and secondarily annealed.

Advantages of Medical Grade UHMWPE

  • Available in GUR 1020 and GUR 1050 resins
  • Sheet, rectangular bar and round bar
  • Instrument grade
  • Lot controlled and traceable
  • ASTM F-648 and ISO 5834 1 and 2 compliant
  • Custom certifications available
  • ASTM F2026
  • Available in ram extruded bar stock fully annealed in 1020 and 1050 resins
  • Produced in the United States
