Modern Plastics Plastrip Heater - This strip Heater is 48" Long and is 85 watts. This consumer-safe strip heater is designed to heat acrylic up to 1/4" thick. Heating time is approximately 30 minutes. Used for bending sheets of acrylic plastic. It is a 120 Volt ready to use electric strip heater for bending acrylic materials.

Instructions: Remove paper or film masking from both sides of the sheet to be bent. Lay sheet on flat, heat-resistant work surface (Example- scrap piece of sheetrock).

Lay the heater on top of the plastic sheet. You may place a piece of insulating material over the heater to increase contact area and speed up the heating time. Be sure heater makes contact across entire plastic sheet. Plug in heater into electrical outlet and heat sheet until it is soft enough to bend with little effort. This may take up to 30 minutes for 1/4" material to bend easily and less time the thinner the material is.

Remove the heater and bend the sheet to the desired angle. Hold in place until cool. You may place a square bar for sharp bends or a dowel for gradual radius in the fold of the bend if desired.

Do not bend heater over a sharp corner, as this will break internal wires.

Practice bending on scrap materials first to develop a good technique.

Caution: Care should be used when handling the Plastrip Heater, its surface can reach 290 degrees F. Whenever heating acrylic, have a dry chemical fire extinguisher nearby. Never use water on electrical fires.
